19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player secured his initial championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from spring of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to create a final set.

He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close final set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
